All seen from the boats while fishing or they can arrange a trip for viewing. The wildlife is breathtaking, whales, porpoise, sea lions, otters, eagles, bears, and wolves. The lodge and grounds are immaculate and everywhere has an incredible view. Shared bathrooms, smaller rooms, limited storage space, pack light, very good beds. They take pride in everything they do, ask them about their charity work, true humanitarians! The accommodations are great-on the fishing lodge scale in a wilderness setting. The cooks are the "Stars" of the Lodge, and characters worth getting to know. We went at the end of a very long and busy season and yet the staff were all on top of their game. This place scores #1 in customer service. To me, customer service is the # 1 deal breaker or maker in returning to any resort or adventure vacation. Matt Cyr was a wealth of info and took the time share fish stories and knowledge with my son and I.… Joe on the dock was always very helpful and smiling. Tim Cyr the owner of the lodge was always making sure everything was up to our expectations and made us feel very welcome. Mike (The Codfather) taught us tons and gave us tons of memories to last a lifetime Top Notch guide. Clean facility, great food, amazing staff, world class scenery, top notch guide. This kitchen crew and staff were always smiling and polite. In todays world it seems that good polite customer service is hard to find. After your evening fish you return to the lodge to relax and have a few cocktails and again more awesome food. Our favorite was the prime rib and yorkshire dinner. Before heading out for your evening fishing you sit down to a very hearty and delicious dinner. A hearty bowl of homemade soup and sandwich awaits your return from fishing at lunch. Your mornings will start with a good solid breakfast before heading out to the fishing grounds. The chefs and the lodge servers are very friendly and if you need anything it is done for you in an instant. There seems to always be some sort of snack or meal in front of you. If you leave this place hungry it is your own fault. This guide gets tops reviews from both my son and I. Exceptionally clean boat and gear and a cooler full of water, juice and pop. The Codfather had us our limit of bottom fish in no time flat and then off we went to the salmon grounds to load up on salmon. My son and I both agreed that this was the best bottom fishing we had ever experienced. This man has earned this title and does an amazing job. I have to say I had nothing to be critical of with The Codfather. I am a very avid fisherman and have been told that I am very critical of guides and other fisherman. Our guide for this trip was Mike (The Codfather). The view from the lodge is pretty amazing. The lodge has a nice lounge area and deck for enjoying cocktails. Plenty of hot water and fresh towels for a good wash up after fishing. There are mens and ladies washrooms with showers. The rooms are basic but clean and very tidy. Remember this is a fishing lodge and not the snooty posh downtown hotel. Everything is explained clearly and off you go to settle into your rooms. Arriving at the lodge you are met by the lodge owner Tim Cyr and his crew. Just for an idea we brought 3 cooler boxes full of ling cod, salmon and halibut fillets home. When you see how many pounds of fish you bring home you bring home you soon realize why there is weight restrictions on the plane. Really this is plenty of luggage for a 3 day trip as the lodge supplies rubber boots, rain pants and jackets for fishing. They ask that you pack light and bring a max of 25 pounds of luggage. Pretty amazing scenery on this short flight. The trip started with a nice 20 minute flight into the lodge on a float plane. My son and I decided to book a 3 day 2 night trip with Nootka Island Lodge. Incredible scenery, Amazing staff and overall Top Notch experience.
